You must create a project plan. At present you have a list of tasks that must be completed in sequence on paper that you have to enter appropriately into Microsoft Office Project Standard 2007. You entered ten of the tasks that are on paper into Project. You also entered predecessors to all the tasks except for the first task. Then you discover that the seventh task should actually be placed between the fifth and the sixth task. You need to put the tasks in the proper sequence. What should you do? The seventh task type should be set to a Fixed Duration. 7 should be entered in the Successor field of the sixth task. 6 should be entered in the Predecessor field of the seventh task. The Autolink inserted or moved tasks option should be enabled.
You are currently building a project schedule for your newly assigned project. This project contains 2 tasks where both tasks have a duration of 10 days. This project will however have to follow a certain sequence since the second task is dependent on the progress of the first task in the project. You must make sure that the second task will commence when the first task reaches 40% completion status. What should you do? Create a start-to-start dependency with a 4-day lag period. Create a finish-to-start dependency with a 40% lag. Create a finish-to-start dependency with a 40% lag. Create a finish-to-start dependency with a 4-day lag period.
You are currently tracking a project that contains several tasks that have tight deadlines. These deadlines are of such a nature that some of the tasks, if delayed for more than 3 days, will seriously affect the project end date. You thus need to identify those tasks as the critical path on your project plan. What should you do? The Critical column should be inserted into the Gantt Chart view. The project schedule should be filtered to display only tasks that are slipping by more than 3 days. The project schedule should be filtered to display only tasks that have free slack of more than 3 days. The number of days allowed for slack should be set to less than or equal to 3 days for critical tasks in the calculation options.
You currently have two project plans under your supervision. Both of these projects form part of one large umbrella project. You must report to the Certkiller.com management the critical path that your projects will follow. You thus need to display a single critical path that encompasses both projects in the Gantt Chart view. What should you do? Both project plans should be opened and displayed side-by-side simultaneously. The tasks of each of the project plans should be copied and pasted into a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 spreadsheet. A visual report of each project plan should be created. Then merge the data in a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 spreadsheet. Both projects should be inserted into a third project plan. Then expand the inserted projects with their tasks in the third project plan.
You are currently displaying a project plan in a meeting. Some of the staff members need to see the critical path, while the others need to see the non-critical path. You thus need to display both the critical and the non-critical paths and still be able to distinguish between the two. A filter should be applied. The Calendar view should be displayed. The Task Usage view should be displayed. The critical path should be displayed using the Gantt Chart Wizard.
You are busy creating a project schedule. A junior Certkiller.com project manager named Dan, has been appointed to assist you with this specific project. You then decide that you will take responsibility for entering tasks in the first and last phases and that Dan will enter tasks in the middle phase of the project. You complete your work which resulted in a 45-day gap between the first and the last phase. Furthermore, there are no tasks or dependencies between phases. You need to identify the critical paths for the project. What should you do? The total slack used to calculate critical tasks should be set to 45 days. The calculation mode should be set to Automatic and then All open projects should be calculated. The option to calculate a single critical path should be set. Then apply a filter to display only the critical tasks. The option to calculate multiple critical paths should be set. Then apply a filter to display only tasks with a 0 total slack.
You are currently creating a project schedule. This project schedule you will use to track the critical path of a set of tasks that are linked. However, when new tasks are added, the start dates of these new tasks will default to the project start date. You need to analyze the critical path and thus have to order all the tasks on a timeline. What should you do? The starting dates for the tasks should be entered. Resources have to be assigned to the tasks. Then level the resources. Task IDs should be entered in the Predecessors column. The tasks should be dragged to the correct starting dates.
You are currently managing a project schedule. You already entered the tasks and its dependencies into the project schedule. However, this is a fairly large project and multiple people are working on deliverables simultaneously. You have been requested to estimate the total project duration. What should you do? The task calendar should be set to 24 hours. The project summary task should be displayed in the Gantt Chart view. The durations of the project subtasks, including the summary task durations, should be summed. The durations of the project subtasks without the summary task durations, should be summed.
You are currently tracking your project. On this project there is a critical task that is scheduled to take 4 weeks to complete since the task only has one resource assigned. Now it has come to light that the task can still be completed by the original finish date provided that the task is assigned the full-time effort of two resources. You need to make sure that when you do add the second resource to the task, that Microsoft Office Project Standard 2007 will maintain the original finish date. What should you do? You should set a fixed work, effort-driven task type. You should set a fixed units, effort-driven task type. You should set a fixed duration, effort-driven task type. You should set a fixed duration, non effort-driven task type.

This task was however not done over the estimated 5 day duration and the resource requested that another 2 days will be required to complete the task. Now you have a situation where there is a conflict with the completion of the task. The conflict is with a critical task that the same resource is assigned to. The critical task is scheduled to start now. Consequently you need to delay the remaining work of the current unfinished task by 5 working days to allow the resource to complete the critical task first. What should you do? A finish-to-start link with a 5 day lag should be added between the tasks. A finish-to-finish link with a 5 day lag should be added between the tasks.
