FAREWELL Annie: Alright. We bought souvenirs to all our relatives and friends, and our things are packed. It's time to say farewell to these wonderful days. Jack: Yeah. I think that all that's left for us to do is to pay the hotel bill, take a cab and be at the airport on the scheduled time. Annie: Scheduled*, as the British would say. Jack: Oh, I'm sure to miss this accent. In fact, I was already getting used to listen to different languages spoken every day. Annie: Me too. I've gotten used to express myself in other languages at least at a basic level. Jack: This is certainly the best way to learn a new language: listening to it and trying to express yourself better through it, day after day. Annie: That's funny; I used to study a little French in high school, and never did it any more since then. But once I listened to French spoken again, I started remembering a lot of words I thought I had long forgotten. Jack: Memory can perform amazing tricks. I remember speaking some words in Italian with my grandfather, when I was a kid. When I listened to spoken Italian again, I was astonished how familiar it was to me. Those few days we spent in Italy were enough for me to become used to the language. Annie: Indeed! The way you were talking there... If I didn't know you, I could swear you were a native speaker. Jack: Thank you! But I think we both should practice speaking foreign languages at home. Thus we'll be pretty keen to our next trip abroad. Annie: We didn't get back home yet, and you're already thinking of travelling again? Jack: Well, I shall say that I've loved our dream-vacation so much that I would do it all again, if I only could. Annie: Oh, dear, I've loved it as well as you, but I'm beginning to miss our home... Jack: So am I, honey. But I'll always keep these wonderful days in my memory.
